Creativity, art & culture in the digital age

Oct 16, 2011 No Comments by

As the world becomes more interconnected digital technologies are playing an ever-increasing role in the creative industries, the arts and our city’s culture as they provide new ways of social exchanges and expression. Users have become producers taking over production of online and offline content leaving traditional producers and industries in danger of collapsing.

At the same time, our traditional cultural institutions like museums, libraries and art galleries find themselves struggling to make sense of these new technologies and new forms of cultural expression.

This forum will draw together people and organisations from the digital and creative industries, as well as cultural institutions from around Newcastle to discuss their idea on collaboration with the broader digital and creative communities and how the digital age will influence our city’s future.

The aim is to consider areas such as local skills development, new funding models & entrepreneurialism, new opportunities, existing challenges, emerging business models and technologies, collaboration & participation:

  • Tech & Games development
  • Film & Animation
  • Media & Music
  • Digital Arts
  • Cultural Institutions
  • Indigenous
